Q: are shipping charges included in the rental rate?
A: no, shipping charges are always separate from rental rates.

Q: do I need to pay for an insurance to deliver the jewel?
A: no, shipping is insured.

Q: how is the jewel delivered to me?
A: the jewel is delivered through TNT or UPS at the address you provided, inside a case within a scotch-tape sealed box inside a tamper-proof envelope.

Q: how do I return the jewel?
A: the jewel must be returned inside the same case and box you received and in the same tamper-proof envelope.

Q: Can I accept a damaged package?
A: No, you cannot receive any damaged package.

Q: how do I know when the carrier arrives at my door?
A: an e-mail from Jewmia.com will send you all the details about the delivery/return day and time slot. Afterwards, you will get an e-mail from TNT or UPS to be printed and handed to the carrier.

Q: can I return the package without the tamper-proof envelope?
A: no. The carrier will only accept packages with perfectly sealed tamper-proof envelopes.

Q: how do I prove that the jewel was returned on the fixed date?
A: the copy of the document released by TNT or UPS will attest it.

Q: does the carrier deliver on Saturday or Sunday?
A: no, deliveries are from Monday to Friday, never on public holidays.

Q: if the return day is a public holiday, can i deliver back the jewel?
A: no, you can return the jewel on the first following working day.

Q: if I choose to rent a jewel on Saturday, or Sunday, or Monday, when will I receive the jewel?
A: you will receive it on the prior Friday.

Q: if I choose to rent a jewel on Friday, when will I return the jewel??
A: you will return the jewel on the following Monday.

Q: why, if the day I chose is Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday, I cannot return the jewel and keep it for several days?
A: because the carrier doesn't deliver on public holidays, nor on Saturday or Sunday, therefore you must keep the jewel until the first working day suitable for its return.

Q: when does the jewel arrive at my place?
A: for rentals starting Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, you will receive the jewel the day before. For rentals starting Saturday, Sunday and Monday, you will receive the jewel on the prior Friday.

Q: How can I understand if the tamper-proof envelope was damaged?
A: You must check:
• the integrity of the the closing-seal tape
• the presence of the MICROPRINT on the welding
• the absence of welding on the envelope's bottom, which must be folded
• the absence of writings on the scotch tape, which must be intact
• the exact numbering (the tamper-proof envelope's number is sent to you by e-mail right after your order confirmation)

Q: What happens if I receive a package that is intact but empty, and I have signed the delivery note?
A: The signature on the delivery note relieves the carrier and Jewmia from any responsability. For every single dispatched order, Jewmia records a film that proves the placement of the good in the package.

Q: How do I know that the film showing the packaging steps is not a fake?
A: Together with the tamper-proof envelopes' number, the insert of the good and the sealing, the film will show the image of the person who packed the item with a valid ID, accepting all the criminal liabilities.

Q: What do I do if I damage the envelope while packaging the jewel?
A: You must immediately call Jewmia.

Q: Is there any instruction to follow for the jewel packaging?
A: Yes: instructions are very easy, you will find them on the jewel box.

Q: Can I reinforce the tamper-proof envelope with scotch tape?
A: No.

Q: Can I put acronyms or abbreviations on the tamper-proof envelope?
A: No.

Q: Will I have a delivery note of the tamper-proof numbered envelope?
A: Yes, you will find a coupon on the envelope: you must remove it before returning the envelope back to the carrier.

Q: Should I fill in the fields of “sender” and “recipient” on the tamper-proof envelope?
A: No, the envelope is already filled in.

Q: What are the terms of payment?
A: You can pay only by credit card.

Q: In order to complete the online transaction, should I just enter my credit card information?
A: Yes, if your credit card is American Express. If your have Visa or Mastercard you must enter the security code (“securecode” for Mastercard, “verified by Visa” for Visa).

Q: Do I need to pay for an insurance when I return the jewel?
A: No, shipping is insured.

Q: How many rental rates are available?
A: There are two types of rate: Daily and Week-end.

Q: What is the Daily rate?
A: The Daily rate is meant for one-day rentals starting Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Q: What is the Week-end rate?
A: It is a one-day rate meant for rentals starting Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday – or for any working day coming before two or more public holidays.

Q: Why are there two different rates if I can rent for one day only?
A: Because in case of a rental beginning Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday, the actual possession of the object stretches over more than one day. The Week-end rate, which actually favours the customer, is slightly higher than the Daily rate as it compensates the costs of an actually longer rental period.

Q: Which rate will be used when I rent a jewel on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday but, because of several following public holidays, I will have to return it after a few days instead of the next day?
A: The Week-end rate will be used.

Q: Can the type of rate be changed during a rental period?
A: No, your rate will always be the one you chose when you entered your order.

Q: Is the total cost immediately charged on my credit card when I make my order?
A: No. We will hold the total amount on your credit card. At the end of the rental period, you will be charged for the amount of the shipping and rental rates, and at the same time the security deposit will be unlocked.

Q: are all the jewels original?
A: yes, all the jewels are original and have both stamp and signature of the manufacturers. All gems are natural and match the description you find on the details of each single item; all jewels are 18ct gold.

Q: do I need to pay for an insurance when I return the jewel?
A: no, shipping is insured.

Q: can I return the package to the carrier without the tamper-proof envelope?
A: no. The carrier will accept only parcels with perfectly-sealed tamper-proof envelopes.

Q: what happens if the jewel gets lost or stolen?
A: if you lose the jewel, you are responsible for its total value. If you are robbed, you have to report it to the authorities and inform Jewmia.

Q: are jewels clean?
A: yes. All items are inspected and cleaned before dispatch, so that they will be brought to you in perfect conditions.

Q: does my responsibility on the jewel start as the rental period begins?
A: no. The legal and financial responsibility begins when you receive the jewel and ends when you return it.

Q: what happens if I don't return the jewel on the fixed date?
A: you will be charged for the one-day hiring cost for each day of delay, without shipping rates. Look in RENTAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS for further details.

Q: when does the rental period start and finish?
A: the period begins at 00.00 of the day after when you receive the item, and ends when you return it back to the carrier. Shipping receipts will attest it.

Q: can I extend the rental period?
A: no, the rental period cannot be extended.

Q: can I rent more than one jewel at the same time?
A: yes, you can rent more jewels at the same time, up to a maximum of three.

Q: can I rent on behalf of somebody else?
A: yes. You can rent on behalf of your wife, your mother, your husband, your daughter, etc.

Q: can a corporation hire a jewel?
A: No. Jewels can only be hired by natural persons. However, Jewmia reserves the right to consider particular requests.

Q: can I rent a jewel for any event?
A: yes, you can rent a jewel for any event (weddings, gala dinners, work lunches, candlelight dinners etc.)

Q: can I reserve a jewel?
A: yes, you can reserve a jewel without obligation.

Q: can I withdraw from the rental contract?
A: withdrawal is possible only if the jewel you ordered has not been handed to the carrier yet.

Q: what is the wish-list?
A: it is just a reminder, a fake, non-binding shopping cart.

Q: Can I rent if I am not registered?
A: no.

Q: Do I have to be registered to fill in the wish-list?
A: no.

Q: Can I change my mind after I completed the whole procedure?
A: Yes, you can change your mind within one hour after your order confirmation.
